PROJECT DETAILS

For my edge project, I practiced my artistic skills using different Adobe programs to create digital art. This process was streamed live through a website called Twitch.tv The act of broadcasting helps provide me with a base to work off of. For example, if I was just creating art without broadcasting, I would be much less motivated and more likely to cut the time short or skip a session. Another benefit to live streaming is that it provides anyone on the internet with the ability to view what I am doing. This then allows me to get constant feedback from any viewers that I might have and potentially provides me with ideas on what to create. The goal was to broadcast a minimum of 6 hours each week over the course of the summer
(roughly 4 months).

During the beginning stages of my project, I worked on infographics for my twitch profile. Once all of that was completed I began working on random pieces whether they be fan art or just from my head.

Sometimes it can be fun to use a project like this as an excuse to spoil yourself with new stuff. When I think of people who stream live on twitch, I think of whatever they're doing as the main focus of the stream, but then they also have a webcam showing their face and high-end audio interfaces so the viewers can hear what they're saying. For my first broadcast, I used both of those things (which I did not have before this project) and I found that a face cam is extremely unnecessary for streaming digital art creation. I also found that with the high-end recording microphone I don't have much to say when I'm in the zone creating art. Needless to say, after the first broadcast those two things didn't get used much at all for the project, but I use them all the time on a day to day basis for other things.
